While watching the news on TV tonight I saw an interview with Erik Millett (principal of Belleisle Elementary School).
He decided to stop playing the Canadian national anthem in his school in order to accommodate all the students as not everyone is Canadian.
He received death threats from parents/members of the community.
Seriously people. You need to get over yourselves and Be Giddy™!
This "proud patriotism" crap happens in countries all over the world. If you want to sing your national anthem, then go for it. Don't hate on someone for not educating children with a couple of paragraphs that rhyme together. Sure, I love the idea of a national anthem. I also love the idea of world peace. The latter is more important.
