Nokia, "World's Largest Camera Company" has Filmmaking Deal with Spike Lee
Nokia has been aggressively positioning its mobile phones as multi-media devices. New phones, such as the N95, have been given to reporters and bloggers as a video news gathering tool.
Now, Nokia is marketing its phones as a tool in creating theatrical films through a new project with the celebrated American director Spike Lee. Laura Holson of The New York Times has the story this morning.
In December, Beet.TV's Helsinki-based correspondent Mika Hentunen interviewed Nokia's Tim Frain, the company's top intellectual property executive. In the interview, Frain said that Nokia is the "largest camera company in the world."
Looks like the deal with Spike Lee will surely help change the perception of Nokia as a cell phone company.
