Online Video Standardization Coming to UGC
Today in New York, the Interactive Advertising Bureau, the IAB, the consortium of online publishers, will address the complex issues surrounding advertising and user generated content in an industry event for members and the pubic.
Beet won't be able to attend and we understand the event is sold out. But surely, there will be some developments from the day-long meeting.
I've posted here my second, unpublished interview with Randy Rothenberg, who heads the IAB. He speaks about the imperative of standardization. A longtime chronicler of the advertising industry from his days as a New York Times reporter, Randy talks about the new opportunities surrounding online video. He says online videos can be valuable to viewers, calls some ads "service."
Programming Note: It's Internet Week in NYC...and Next Week We're in Hollywood!
As you may know, this is Internet Week in NYC and we will be out and about at events including Advertising 2.0 where we will interview several high level advertising execs. We are also covering events by paidContent, diggnation and others.
Next week, I'm off to Hollywood to cover iHollywood and AlwaysOn Hollywood.
Among plans, is a visit to the Beverly Hills HQ of MySpace to get the download on the social network's video operations and strategies.
So, keep your browser right here on the purple channel.
