In comments at the Beet.TV Online Video Roundtable in San Francisco last month, Wilfred Martis, Director of Platform Strategy, said that a considerable amount of this R&D money is being committed to bring Web video to the television.
He said the widget channel with Yahoo! was just a first step. The first TV's with the Yahoo! widget channel launched last month.
He told the group, that this technology will lead to "pretty radical innovation in the next five years."
